“The dream is real; see you at Mestalla”: Tavernes ended its announcement with those words, confirming that the match will be played at Mestalla on 28 October at 9 p.m. Tavernes will be the home team for the first-round Copa del Rey meeting with Valencia.

Tavernes had considered the possibility of playing there ever since being drawn against Valencia. Its municipal ground, where it plays its Lliga Comunitat FFCV matches, faced difficulties meeting the Spanish Football Federation’s requirements for staging the game. The club announced that Mestalla would host the fixture.

In its statement, Tavernes described the occasion as one that had long been hard to imagine: “Our match against Valencia will be played at Mestalla. One of those moments that is difficult to picture, and that we will now be able to experience in person. To play in a legendary stadium, in front of a unique crowd and at a venue that is part of the history of Valencian football.”

For the club, the match means more than a cup tie: it is an opportunity to fulfil an ambition that until recently seemed difficult to reach. Tavernes summed up that prospect with a final message: “The dream is real; see you at Mestalla.”
