Ihab Abu Jazar, coach of the Palestinian team, believes Wissam Abu Ali’s injury cost him the chance to produce exceptional figures in the US league. He says the forward had the ability to reach numbers higher than Lionel Messi’s. That is Abu Jazar’s view of what the player might have achieved, not a claim about figures he actually posted.

After leaving Al Ahly, Wissam Abu Ali had put up good numbers and, Abu Jazar said, was making remarkable progress before the injury kept him off the field. The coach made the comments while appearing on Zoom on Ya Masa Al-Anwar, broadcast by MBC Masr 2.

Abu Jazar also stressed the effect on the national team. He described Wissam Abu Ali as an important and influential member of the side and called his absence a major loss during this period of preparation for the Asian Cup. His remarks underline the team impact of the forward’s absence as preparations for the competition continue.

The player’s club has announced that he is expected back on the field in February. Abu Jazar hopes he recovers quickly and regains his technical and physical level, pointing to the contribution he can make to the Palestinian team.
