Abdel Fadil said Imam Ashour had shown less than 60% of his technical ability during the match. He also pointed to a loss of accuracy in the player’s passing, which he said affected Al Ahly’s build-up play and its progress towards the opposition goal. Sherif Abdel Fadil also described Ashour’s performances for Al Ahly against Zamalek as among the player’s worst.

Al Ahly had struggled in attack in its most recent match, he said. Imam Ashour had fallen short of the expected level, while Achraf Bencharki’s performance had been affected by that of his teammates. Abdel Fadil also judged that, in recent times, Ashour had not shown his usual standard, even allowing for the pressure of the matches.

Speaking about the forward line on « Ya Masa’ al-Anwar », broadcast on MBC Masr 2, Abdel Fadil said Sofiane Ben Jedida had done what was expected of him but had not received enough support from the other attacking players.

He also linked Bencharki’s misplaced passes to the drop in his teammates’ level and the lack of conditions needed for the player to display his technical ability. Abdel Fadil noted that Bencharki could play and pass in tight spaces, but said that quality had not come through sufficiently in the match and that Al Ahly had not made proper use of his skills.
