Stuttgart secured a convincing 3-0 win away to Slovan Bratislava in the second matchday of the Champions League’s first phase. Denis Undav, Sandro Cruz with an own goal, and Ermedin Demirovic scored for the German side. Slovan, coached by Touré Yayá, therefore remain bottom of the table. They came into the match after a heavy 6-1 defeat to reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Undav opened the scoring in the 29th minute after combining with Vagnoman and Stiller, having already threatened from a set piece. Early in the second half, Suleiman Camara thought he had restored parity, but his goal was ruled out following a video review. Slovan kept pushing but could not get back into the match.
In the 65th minute, Sandro Cruz turned a Vagnoman cross into his own net, having hit the post shortly beforehand. Demirovic then headed in the third from inside the area, meeting a carefully placed cross from Assignon on the right. The match was played at Tehelné Pole in Bratislava, Slovakia. Pokorny, Hendriks, El Khanouss and Vagnoman were shown yellow cards.
