Endrick, the young Brazilian forward at Real Madrid, voiced how his teammates felt about Vinicius Junior’s suspension. The competitions committee of the Spanish Football Federation handed his compatriot a four-match suspension. The ban was officially announced on Wednesday, the day before Real Madrid faced Roma in the Champions League. The Merengues won 4-3 after what was described as an incredible comeback in that match.

Endrick came on after the break against Roma and scored. After the game, he said: “We knew the sanction should have been two matches, but deep down we knew it wouldn’t be that way.” He also criticised the treatment of Vinicius: “What they are doing to Vinicius is insane, and that won’t change. We knew it would happen like this and that they would target Vinicius.”

Endrick described his compatriot as “a strong man who is always fighting against everything,” adding: “when he comes back, he will be at his best.”
