Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, president of the Asian Football Confederation, has addressed discussion of a possible postponement of the 2027 Asian Cup. No immediate decision has been announced: the tournament remains scheduled for January and February next year in Arabia.

“We are in no hurry to make a decision regarding the Asian Cup scheduled for next January in Saudi Arabia,” Salman said in remarks reported by Al Kass. He said the confederation could wait until the end of November, adding that the regional situation “could change very quickly” and that it was important to monitor what happens.

The president also said the tournament could be moved back a year, to 2028, if circumstances required it. For now, he said, the AFC is monitoring the situation and the event is proceeding according to the established schedule.

The current plan therefore remains a January-February tournament in Arabia, while a move to 2028 is conditional on circumstances. Salman’s comments do not confirm a change of dates; they indicate that the confederation will wait before deciding whether one is necessary.
