Bournemouth recorded a 3-0 victory over Sturm Graz at the Vitality Stadium, and Marco Rose praised his squad’s performance. It was the first European home win in the club’s history. The result followed Bournemouth’s away win against Real Sociedad and gave Rose another positive result in Europe.
Bournemouth scored a second goal in the 76th minute, before Álvaro Rodríguez converted a penalty in stoppage time. Rose also highlighted the depth of his squad ahead of a busy run of fixtures, and the players’ eagerness to compete for opportunities.
“Performance-wise, we kept a clean sheet; the attitude and effort were there. It was a deserved win. Now we have to keep going and become consistent. Sunderland is the next challenge,” Rose said.
After the match, Sturm Graz coach Fabio Ingolitsch acknowledged that his side had struggled before the break, then become braver afterwards. He said they pressed higher and created a major opportunity to equalise, but could not take it. Bournemouth’s second goal then made the task more difficult for his team.
For Bournemouth, the result and team performance provide encouragement in its first European campaign. Rose, however, stressed what must follow: consistency and collective effort, with Sunderland the next challenge he identified.
