Jagoba Arrasate returns to El Sadar 876 days after his last home match at the Navarre stadium. He is back in charge of Osasuna with the task of changing the team’s momentum, as they host Racing de Santander on Sunday, October 18 at 14:00, in round 9 of LaLiga EA Sports.
It will be Arrasate’s first match at the helm since his return was made official last Monday. He replaces Luis Miguel Ramis, who was dismissed after failing to find a solution. Arrasate’s return, and the positive memories of his previous spell, have rekindled enthusiasm among Osasuna’s supporters.
Osasuna are looking to end a poor run: their most recent win came against Getafe on August 31. Racing de Santander also arrive after a difficult spell away from home. The Cantabrian side had not played in Pamplona since 2014. The match will be shown live on Movistar LaLiga.
The standings underline the task facing Osasuna, who sit 16th in Liga with 8 points after 8 matches. Their record is 2 wins, 2 draws and 4 defeats, with 8 goals scored and 18 conceded. In their last 5 league games, they have not won: they have suffered 4 defeats and drawn once.
At home, Osasuna have 1 win, 2 draws and 1 defeat in 4 matches, scoring 2 goals and conceding 3. Their away record also includes 1 win, alongside 3 defeats and no draws; they have scored 6 goals and conceded 15 on the road. Across their Liga matches, Osasuna average 1.00 goals scored and 2.25 conceded per game. Arrasate’s return comes with the team needing to try to turn that run around.
