Oyarzabal scores twice to end his goal drought

Oyarzabal found the net again with a brace against Málaga. The captain made a decisive contribution as his team went on to win comfortably, despite seeing its opponent cut the deficit in the second half. His two goals restored a measure of calm for his side during an eventful passage of the match.
Oyarzabal’s return to scoring came after ten matches without a goal. Take Kubo, who had yet to score for the Txuri-urdin this season, opened his account after just three minutes. Óskarsson then scored the second before half-time. Two different players had therefore found the net early in the contest, before Oyarzabal took centre stage in the match narrative.
Before kick-off, Oyarzabal had been honoured for his world title. In the second half, after Málaga had made it 1-2, the captain scored to make it 1-3 and celebrated an eagerly awaited return to scoring. Málaga pulled the score back to 2-3, but Oyarzabal answered with his second goal to give his team breathing room. Guedes scored his team’s fifth goal, and the side finished with a comfortable victory.
The defeat adds to Málaga’s difficult run in Liga. The club is 20th on 4 points after 9 rounds: it has yet to win, with 4 draws and 5 defeats. Its record includes 6 goals scored and 18 conceded. Recent form has brought no reversal, either: in its last five Liga matches, Málaga has taken two points from two draws and lost three times. Oyarzabal’s brace thus accompanied a convincing win for his team, while Málaga remains without a league victory after nine matches.
