“Having our supporters alongside us means a lot,” Bonaldo says. As Sabadell prepare to return to Nova Creu Alta, he underlines the importance of the backing from the stands, with the team eager to be back at its home ground after a difficult defeat and two away matches.
Bonaldo says the atmosphere is different at home. “It is not the same playing away as it is here. In our stadium, you really feel the energy and encouragement of the supporters,” he explains. The defeat, he says, made the team even keener to return to its fans: “We really wanted to come back, especially after losing away.”
He says the team intends to stay on course with its work. “When you lose, you are obviously sad about it. We are sticking to the same approach: working hard, analysing the opposition and trying to keep doing what we have been doing,” he says. He feels the team did not show its true self in the latest defeat and hopes that returning home, with the crowd behind them, will provide an extra lift. Preparation also involves studying opponents and adjusting how to defend and attack, but, he stresses, the focus remains on the team’s own game and identity.
Bonaldo also discusses his return from injury. He says he is at 100 per cent, happy to be back with the group and able to contribute. Being away was difficult, he adds, particularly because he enjoys the daily work and togetherness at Sabadell. He says he feels closer to his best level with each passing day.
In his view, competition helps everyone maintain a high standard. He names Kaiser and Genart among the players returning from injury whom he considers important to the team.
Finally, Bonaldo expresses gratitude for the journey so far and says he is looking ahead with ambition. He recognises that the standard of players rises as teams move up a division, but insists he wants to keep improving. As Sabadell prepare to return to Nova Creu Alta, his message is focused on what lies ahead and the contribution he hopes to receive from the supporters.
