Fury plans to continue after Joshua fight

Tyson Fury says he will continue his career after his fight with Anthony Joshua, scheduled for December 11, and claims his rival will receive his “final payday” on that occasion. The two British fighters, both former heavyweight world champions, have never met in a title unification bout.
“Right at the end of his career, he wants a final payday. I’ll give it to him, no problem,” Fury said of Joshua. The Briton also said he had not believed the fight would happen. He claims Joshua had not had the courage to get in the ring with the “Gypsy King” and says his opponent had turned the fight down “four or five times” before.
Fury describes the event as the end of an era. He says the fight has been building for a long time and recalls being part of the amateur class of 2008, an Olympic year. He expects fans to see two legendary fighters face off at an advanced age, “like all the greats did before”.
His comments about what comes next are clear: “I’m going to continue. I’ve got two fights left on my contract,” he said. He is considering completing that deal and then perhaps signing a new 10-fight contract. He made that possibility conditional on the money being right, while acknowledging that any such fights would need to come quickly because he is getting older. He added that he is approaching his 40th fight.
At 38, he says, he is still proving his critics wrong. He called himself the best heavyweight ever to put on a pair of gloves, citing a height of 6'9" and a weight of 275 pounds, while saying he boxes like a middleweight and dances around the ring for 12 rounds.
Sky Sports has contacted Joshua’s promoter, Matchroom Boxing, for comment. Fury also said Usyk knew he could not make as much money elsewhere and that anyone wanting to get paid had to come and see him in the heavyweight division. He continues to bitterly dispute the decision that went against him in his second fight with a Ukrainian opponent.
