Atlético Madrileño shared the points with Real Jaén in a 1-1 draw in Alcalá de Henares. For Fernando Torres’s side, the result means six consecutive rounds without a win. The coach felt his players had been in a position to make more of the game: “It is a point that feels like very little. We have to keep insisting on that winning mentality.”

After the match, the reserve-team coach reviewed the game on the club’s official channels. He said his team had shown an attacking approach even with ten players, and believed it had created enough chances to extend its lead after going 1-0 up. Real Jaén’s equaliser did not stop the attempts, he explained, but a lack of finishing proved costly. He also praised his players’ effort.

Fernando Torres’s response is to stay the course rather than abandon his principles. “We have to keep insisting on that winning mentality, wanting to win even when things are not going our way, and now more than ever believe in the players, the team and the work we are doing,” he said. The draw leaves Atlético Madrileño with a winless run to break, while its coach’s message centres on confidence and persistence.

The next fixture is already set: Atlético Madrileño will host Alcorcón on Friday at 21:00. Torres described the visitors as another strong team and said he would have preferred to play again quickly to put the disappointment behind them. He nevertheless stressed the chance to approach the match with the same ambition and energy.

Koke Mota also expressed his disappointment, saying his team had been superior and had chances to extend its lead. He said he wanted Atlético Madrileño’s ground to become a fortress, before urging the side to keep working and turn its attention to Alcorcón. He also noted that every league match is demanding and hoped his team would take all three points in its next home game.
