Riakporhe offers ‘big puncher’ Johnny Fisher a shot at the British heavyweight title

Richard Riakporhe has offered Johnny Fisher the chance to challenge him for the British heavyweight title. The champion, who recently dominated Jeamie TKV before stopping him in the fifth round to win the belt, says he is willing to give Fisher that opportunity.

The “Romford Bull” must first get past Michael Pirotton on Saturday night, when he headlines at London’s Copper Box Arena. Riakporhe said he likes Fisher and had raised the possibility after his own fight. He also said he would be watching and supporting Fisher over the weekend.

The British champion describes Fisher as respectful, well liked and a big puncher, while also highlighting his physical strength. In Riakporhe’s view, the contest would appeal to fans. Riakporhe describes himself as a dangerous opponent and says he is regarded as a top-10 fighter in the world, while stressing that he is also a fan of Fisher and the Bosh family.

Riakporhe says he has his own plans at a higher level, but remains open to bouts against opponents who genuinely want to face him. He believes fighters must meet the public’s expectations and provide a show worthy of the price paid.

Having moved up to heavyweight last year after being a world title challenger at cruiserweight, the Londoner ultimately wants to face one of the division’s current champions. He is following the Fabio Wardley-Daniel Dubois fight, as well as the paths of Agit Kabayel and Filip Hrgovic, which he sees as reference points on the road to a belt. He says he is training to compete for one of those titles, knows his own worth and capabilities, and describes himself as one of the heaviest hitters in the world.
