Isack Hadjar to remain alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull in 2027

Red Bull have confirmed that Isack Hadjar will remain Max Verstappen’s team-mate for the 2027 Formula 1 season. The Frenchman, promoted to Red Bull at the start of the year after an impressive debut campaign with Racing Bulls in 2025, returns this weekend at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, which takes place on Saturday.

Hadjar missed the last three rounds because of a wrist injury sustained during last month’s summer break. His extension therefore comes as he returns to the track.

Laurent Mekies highlighted the driver’s integration into the team. Red Bull’s team principal said Hadjar had spent time at the factory with his engineers to contribute to the development of the car, showing a constant desire to learn and improve. According to Mekies, from his first weekend in Melbourne, the Frenchman handled his promotion with remarkable composure and showed that he deserved the seat.

Mekies also acknowledged that the period following the injury had been difficult for Hadjar, while describing the extension as evidence of Red Bull’s belief in its driver. “We’re very excited to continue our journey with Isack,” Mekies said. “Since joining us at the start of the year, he has been superb on and off track, especially considering this is only his second Formula 1 season. Extending his contract was therefore an easy decision.”

The team principal added that the team still had much to achieve this season and welcomed the fact that the drivers, engineers and factory staff were moving in the same direction with a shared commitment.

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix opens a triple-header and will be held on Saturday at midday in Baku. The schedule features first practice at 9.30am, with coverage beginning at 9am, followed by the team bosses’ press conference at 12pm. Second practice will start at 1pm after build-up coverage at 12.30pm.

The F1 Show is scheduled for 2.15pm. On Friday September 25, the Formula 2 Sprint is scheduled for 5.10am. Third practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix will begin at 9.30am, preceded by coverage from 9.15am, while the first Formula 2 Feature Race is listed for 11.10am.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix qualifying is set for 1pm, following qualifying build-up at 12.30pm, with Ted’s Qualifying Notebook following at 3pm. On Saturday September 26, the second Formula 2 Feature Race is scheduled for 7.55am. The programme also includes Grand Prix Sunday build-up at 10.30am, followed by Chequered Flag, dedicated to reaction after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, at 2pm.
