Valencia: Diakhaby partially returns to group training on Aguirre’s second day

On Javier Aguirre’s second day in charge of Valencia, the injury situation is becoming clearer. On Friday, during his second session at the Ciudad Deportiva de Paterna, the coach saw Mouctar Diakhaby train with the group for the first part.

The Franco-Guinean defender is continuing his recovery from the long adductor injury to his left leg sustained in early September against Barcelona. The other injured players are reportedly still working separately.

As part of this monitoring in Paterna, César Tárrega, Umar Sadiq, Dimitri Foulquier, José Copete, Diego López and Sergi Canós completed individual work indoors. In this week’s schedule, Valencia are due to complete their final session on Saturday before a rest day on Sunday.

Aguirre will then have a three-week break to work with his team before the competition resumes on 11 October against Racing de Santander at El Sardinero. As part of that schedule, the squad will return on Monday, the day of Aguirre’s official presentation as the new coach at Mestalla.

In the context of his arrival, Aguirre takes charge of a Valencia side with only four points after the first seven Liga matchdays, following Carlos Corberán’s dismissal and Óscar Sánchez’s week as interim coach.
