A break to get back on track: Athletic have a month without an official match following their 0-0 draw against Alavés on Matchday 7 of LaLiga EA Sports. The period should allow the club to correct the details that affected their latest outings, which brought no wins.
After a difficult start, with their first points only arriving on the third matchday, Edin Terzic’s side began to find its rhythm at Balaídos. It then confirmed that improvement at San Mamés against Atlético, raising expectations around the German coach’s project.
The last two matches have nevertheless brought a halt in terms of results. Athletic were held by Alavés and then by Elche. Against the Elche side, the performance was not poor: Athletic created several chances to win before salvaging a point late on, when Elche appeared set to leave San Mamés with a favourable result.
During the break, Edin Terzic will therefore look to refine his project by working on the areas in which his team has not shown its best form. The return will be demanding, with three consecutive away matches against Rayo Vallecano, Levante and Valencia.
Until then, the players will have rest days this weekend, with the exception of those on international duty.
