Andreia returns to Zubieta to face a Real weakened, in need of results and affected by absences.
This season, Gorka Álvarez’s Real have yet to win a match. So far, their overall record stands at four defeats and three draws, although they are unbeaten in their last three games.
Recently, Real have been unable to shake off that pressure, neither in Badalona in the league against a side described as inferior and reduced to ten players, nor in Europe on Wednesday in Scotland despite clearly dominating. Nerea Eizagirre missed a stoppage-time penalty there, despite rarely failing from the spot.
In the league table, Real’s two points leave them in 14th place, level with the relegation zone and seven points behind the Champions League places occupied by Sánchez Vera’s Madrid CFF. On this day, it is not Madrid CFF travelling to Zubieta, but an opponent described as a giant.
In that context, Andreia Jacinto returns to Zubieta as a merengue player. Pau Quesada’s side, meanwhile, have just drawn 1-1 with PSG in the Champions League. This season, they remain unbeaten, sit two points behind Barça in the league, have won their last two league matches and have only dropped points against Eibar.
FootballSporting came from behind to beat Braga 3-2 in the opening of Primeira Liga’s eighth round. The victory, led by Luis Suárez and Rodrigo Zalazar, lifts Sporting to second place.
FootballGoalkeeper Àngel Fortuño started in place of Marko Dmitrovic. Manolo González cited Dmitrovic’s back injury and praised Fortuño’s performance.
FootballAtlético arrive on the back of three straight wins and sit second. The return from the break will also test both sides’ strong starts to the season.
FootballAfter 20 weeks without a Liga match at Vallecas, Rayo are preparing to return to their neighbourhood. Their first three home fixtures were played at Butarque.
