Laver Cup 2026: Alcaraz to make doubles debut with Mensik in London on Friday

Carlos Alcaraz will make his 2026 Laver Cup debut on Friday, September 25, as the ninth edition gets under way at London’s O2. In the spotlight during the evening session, the Spaniard will form a new doubles partnership with Jakub Mensik.

The European pair will play the fourth and final match of the day against Taylor Fritz and Aleksandr Búblik. Alcaraz already has doubles experience in the event, having played four matches in the format.

The fixture marks the Murcian player’s return to the team competition after leading the European side in recent editions. With every Friday win worth one point in the overall Laver Cup standings, the doubles match will bring the opening day in London to a close.

Alcaraz and Jódar also greeted each other. Before the doubles match, Rafa Jódar will face Aleksandr Búblik; the Alcaraz-Mensik match against Búblik-Fritz is scheduled for the evening session at around 10 p.m. Spanish time.

Alcaraz’s only Laver Cup singles defeat came against American Fritz. In doubles, he has lost only his first match in the competition, when he partnered Alexander Zverev against Fritz and Shelton.

In Spain, the match will be available on television and via streaming on Eurosport 1 and HBO Max.
