Málaga head into the weekend with the same concerns, despite a different working week shaped by the LaLiga break and the absence of a match. It was the club’s first break from football since returning to the Primera División.

Juanfran Funes used the period to introduce some changes to the team’s routine. On Tuesday, the squad left La Rosaleda for a group activity, before sharing a session with Antequera on Thursday in a friendly that ended in a 6-0 Málaga win.

Adam Aznou and Jens Cajuste are still training separately. On Friday, in the final session before two days off, training began at around 10:30 a.m. and Funes focused on technical and tactical work, with the ball at the centre of the session.

Einar and Cruz also remain apart from the group, as do injured players Aznou, Cajuste, Murillo, Aarón Ochoa and Lobete. When the team return, one objective will be to recover Aznou and Cajuste, two signings who have yet to make their Málaga debuts and are targeting the match against Espanyol.

Diego Murillo’s return is further away, with an approximate wait of a month and a half still required. The club also hopes Fernando Calero can be available soon after suffering three rib fractures in the pre-season friendly against Ceuta. Aarón Ochoa, meanwhile, is planning to return in January.

The squad will now have two days off and will return to training on Monday, September 28, from 6:30 p.m., at La Rosaleda.
