FootballJosé Herrera joins Manchester United’s coaching staff
The Spanish coach becomes an assistant to Eva Olid at Manchester United. He arrives after guiding Atlético de Madrid to fifth place in the Liga and to the Copa de la Reina final.

“We all have someone listening to the opponent’s instructions during breaks, and anyone who says otherwise is lying,” Todos says. The practice of monitoring rivals’ instructions has also been acknowledged by Luis García Plaza, coach of Sevilla.
The coach revealed that he uses a spy to track the opposing manager’s instructions during hydration breaks. In one of the final matches before the break, he showed his frustration when a television camera and microphone picked up his words as he prepared to address his players.
Speaking on El Partidazo de Cope, the Madrid-born coach later said that all managers use the practice. “All coaches have someone listening to the broadcasts to tell us by phone what instructions the opponent is giving on the touchline. It’s common,” he said.
He also said he would prefer time-outs, as in basketball, to allow coaches to pass on instructions during matches. His comments highlight the importance attached to touchline communication and the possibility that opponents may hear those instructions.
