José Herrera has joined Manchester United’s coaching staff, where he will assist Eva Olid. Gavin Beith and Dan Bale are also part of the staff, working in support of Olid. The appointment continues the club’s commitment to Spanish talent in its women’s project.
Last season, Herrera managed Atlético de Madrid, leading the team to fifth place in the Liga and the final of the Copa de la Reina. He now begins a new chapter in the Women’s Super League alongside Olid, with whom he has been working for several days.
Before his time at Atlético, he coached Málaga, Granada, UD Tenerife and Al-Hilal. He also holds a UEFA professional licence. The partnership between Olid and Herrera is already beginning to deliver results: Manchester United have won three in a row, including two cup victories against Sheffield and Durham, and a Women’s Super League win over West Ham.
In Manchester, Herrera will also be reunited with a player he knows from his time in Spain. His arrival further strengthens a coaching staff that already has a significant Spanish presence.
