Raphinha is continuing his run of form: after being named LaLiga’s best player in August, the FC Barcelona forward retained the distinction for September. Supporters chose the winner in a vote on LaLiga’s official website, giving the player another accolade after a notable start to the season.
His scoring record for the month underlines the scale of his performances. In the four matches FC Barcelona played in September, the blaugrana captain scored seven goals and provided two assists. Those seven goals came on top of the five he scored in August: with 12 goals, Raphinha sits at the top of the league’s scoring chart.
Aged 29, he has received further recognition for his start to the season with FC Barcelona. The award comes despite experts leaving him out of the 30 Ballon d’Or finalists. His monthly best-player honour was also not the only award received by a member of FC Barcelona in September.
The supporters’ vote thus gives him the distinction for a second successive month, while his goals and assists offer a tangible measure of his attacking contribution for his team during that period.
