Denmark praises Hjulmand’s display against Wales
SportNestra Editorial Teamabout 2 hours ago12 views
Denmark praised Hjulmand’s performance against Wales, referring to “the gladiator mentality Simeone instils in him”. The midfielder played all 90 minutes of Denmark’s 1-0 win on Sunday, 4 October, in Cardiff. It was an important result for Nations League Group A4.
Danish media also highlighted his influence in midfield. Bold called him “the absolute anchor who held the team together after the chaos of Højbjerg’s injury” and praised his “brutal physical output”. BT, meanwhile, said his teammate’s absence had put him in charge: “Forced to multiply his efforts in the centre circle, Hjulmand showed tremendous positional maturity.”
He withstood Wales’ physical approach and broke up the hosts’ counterattacks with tactical fouls. The praise reflects a performance that mattered in Denmark’s victory and underlines Hjulmand’s role at the heart of the play.
