Deco announces Raphinha extension through 2030

Deco announced at the September assembly that Raphinha would extend his contract by two more years, through June 2030. The announcement comes as Barça works to secure continuity across its squad, having already confirmed a number of renewals in recent seasons.

The Catalan club sits alone at the top of LaLiga, having won all its matches, and also recorded a big win in its first Champions League match of the season. Last summer, Hansi Flick’s position was secured through June 2028. The year before, Barça had also ensured the continuity of nine players, including Pau Cubarsí, Eric Garcia, Pedri and Lamine Yamal.

Raphinha’s continued stay at the club had already been made official on 22 May 2025, with a contract running through June 2028. The new end date announced by Deco would extend that commitment. If he sees out the new deal, the Brazilian would finish his time with Barça at almost 34.

The renewal programme also involves other players. Barça is set to announce extensions for Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart. The latter has emerged as a revelation early in the campaign and has pushed Balde and Cancelo onto the bench, despite playing as a right-back. Hamza Abdelkarim, an 18-year-old Egyptian forward who has already featured at a World Cup, was also secured before the international break. At the same time, the club extended his contract through June 2030 and raised his release clause from 15 million to 150 million euros.

Barça had also secured the continuity of Fermín López in 2026, a key part of Hansi Flick’s system. After the renewals of Raphinha, Bernal and Espart, Deco is still waiting for Gerard Martín and Brian Fariñas to follow suit and complete the work. Recruitment is also being planned for the longer term: Dominik Livakovic joined the club last summer through June 2030, with the aim of strengthening the goalkeeping position and providing a dependable alternative to Joan Garcia in the event of injury.
