Junior Firpo suffers left adductor injury

Junior Firpo has sustained a muscle injury to his left adductor. The warning signs came during the Dominican Republic’s match against Haiti, when he left the pitch ten minutes after the start with muscular discomfort. His absence is estimated at around three weeks, though that timeframe is not presented as certain.

The medical report says his return to the group will depend on his progress. The uncertainty comes as Betis faces a demanding stretch, with nine matches in 28 days in LaLiga, the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, up to the next international break.

The injury will also force Pellegrini to find an alternative at left-back for at least three weeks. Junior Firpo had featured regularly this season as an option behind Fran García, so his unavailability reduces the team’s choices in that position.
