Adou Thiero’s spectacular dunk raises concern over his knee

The NBA has a spectacular dunker in Adou Thiero, whose soaring finish was followed by a heavy landing on his right leg. Its position as he came down alarmed the crowd, but the forward said he was fine after the Lakers’ 124-98 preseason loss to the Warriors.

The 22-year-old, who stands 2.01 metres tall, scored 7 points and collected 4 rebounds. His vertical leap is listed at 117 centimetres. The dunk stood out for the concern caused by the landing, rather than for the numbers on his stat line.

«It was an awkward fall, but I’m fine. I’ll definitely pay more attention to that, although in some situations it’s difficult to worry about the landing. But it’s certainly something I keep in mind», he said after the game, reassuring fans.

Thiero also spoke about his leaping ability, saying he had worked on it over the summer and was learning when to use his athleticism. «There are also moments when I can jump among three players and still manage a dunk. It’s simply about believing in myself and knowing what I can do in each situation», he said.
