Kochen dreams of returning to Barcelona after Lyngby loan

Kochen hopes he can return to Barcelona one day after joining Lyngby on loan. The goalkeeper has established himself as a regular starter at the Danish club, which has a €1.5 million purchase option. He has yet to make a competitive appearance for Barcelona’s first team, despite being called into the senior squad almost 100 times. The Spotify Camp Nou remains a destination he hopes to reach.

The purchase option could give Lyngby a route to make the move permanent. At the same time, Kochen’s loan experience could strengthen his prospects of returning to Barcelona. The American is enjoying his spell at Lyngby, but his long-term ambition remains clear.

“Obviously, I have long-term goals,” he said. For now, he wants to give everything for his current club and compete at the highest level. “To go back to a big club like Barcelona and have an opportunity there would be every kid’s dream. It’s another one of my goals.”

Kochen also reflected on the competition he encountered from a young age after joining Barcelona’s system. “You have to fight for a place from a very young age and learn the values of competition early,” he said, adding that this was what had surprised him most. He also recalled being around first-team players including Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Raphinha, and remembered supporters celebrating the club’s trophies in Barcelona’s streets as “incredible”.

For now, Kochen is focused on making the most of his first regular role in senior football at Lyngby, while keeping the possibility of a Barcelona return in mind.
