International federation president arrives in Cairo for junior world championships

The president of the international federation has arrived in Cairo to follow the Junior World Badminton Championships. Her visit comes as matches in the Suhandinata Cup 2026, a competition for under-19 teams, are being played at the indoor halls complex of Cairo International Stadium.

She was welcomed by Hadiya Hosny, president of the Egyptian Badminton Federation, and Karim Shadid, the federation’s vice-president, alongside several other badminton officials. The tournament had begun two days before her arrival. It brings together teams from 47 countries and runs from October 5 to 17.

The group line-up was revised before the competition began. After the national teams of Bahrain and Macau withdrew, the international federation held a new draw, which established the final groups.

Matches are due to continue through October 17 at the halls complex of Cairo International Stadium. The competition brings together junior national teams from around the world and is being followed by international federation officials in attendance. The president’s arrival in Cairo is part of that oversight as the tournament continues.
