Alexandre Texier set up two goals for the Canadiens de Montréal against the Carolina Hurricanes, opening his NHL account in the process. Tuesday’s game ended in a 6-4 defeat for Montréal.
The matchup carried particular significance for Texier: he was facing the Hurricanes again after meeting them in the Conference final last May. He registered his first points of the new North American league season and remains the only French player in the NHL this season.
The Frenchman was involved in both Montréal goals scored by Zachary Bolduc, each in the first period. For the first, Texier redirected a long-range shot in front of the net, helping the Canadiens level at 1-1 after four minutes. The second came as the opening 15 minutes drew to a close: Texier initiated the play that allowed Bolduc to restore Montréal’s lead at 3-2.
The Hurricanes eventually pulled away, with goals from Sebastian Aho, Mark Jankowski and Taylor Hall. Texier’s two assists were his first points of the 2026-2027 NHL season, but they could not prevent a Canadiens defeat.
