“I am taking CR Belouizdad to court,” Slimani says of the action he is bringing against his former club. His claim concerns arrears linked to his second spell with Chabab, from September 2024 to January 2025, before he left on loan for Westerlo. The dispute relates to a short period, but remains an unresolved matter for the forward.
The case has been placed on the Court of Arbitration for Sport’s schedule under reference 2026/A/12578. It is set to be examined on 15 October 2026. That date is the next scheduled step in the financial proceedings between the player and CR Belouizdad; the outcome and the tribunal’s final decision are still pending.
The claim concerns Slimani’s latest spell at the Algerian club. He returned to CR Belouizdad in September 2024 after many years playing in Europe, but his stay ended in January 2025, when he left Algeria to resume his European career. A few days later, he was sent on loan to Westerlo. His return had brought back a player who had made his name at the club, but this second spell came to an early end.
On the pitch, Slimani made 12 appearances for Chabab in all competitions and scored three goals. Eight of those outings were in the league; he also featured in the African Champions League and the Algerian Cup. Those figures describe his time at the club, while the claim itself remains specifically about arrears from that period.
The financial case is unfolding alongside another search. Slimani, 38, is still looking for a new club where he can continue his career. His current situation therefore combines the search for a sporting destination with the pursuit of a claim against his former club. After a career on pitches in Algeria, Europe and South America, the 15 October date will mark another stage in the proceedings, without determining their outcome.
