Joan García returns to Barcelona’s group training

Good news for Flick: Joan García has returned to training with the rest of the group. Barcelona’s treatment room is gradually clearing, with Frenkie de Jong having taken part in some of the session the previous day. The knee discomfort that had kept the goalkeeper out against Sevilla is now behind him.

Joan García had to leave the match against Racing on 16 September after an awkward movement caused discomfort in his right knee during the first half. Flick had played down the severity of the issue: “Joan García’s discomfort is not serious.”

Back in group training on Wednesday, the goalkeeper—an undisputed first choice for Flick—could start against Getafe in LaLiga on Saturday at Spotify Camp Nou. That is the expected outcome, rather than a confirmed selection decision.

Frenkie de Jong also joined part of the group session. He had returned to training the previous day after overcoming a knee injury that had kept him out since August. Flick also led Jules Koundé, Joao Cancelo, Marc Bernal, Xavi Espart and Hamza in Wednesday’s session.
