Benjamín Noval turns 18 this Wednesday in the middle of a season already full of achievements. The young rider won the European time-trial title by just three hundredths of a second after a closely fought contest. The continental crown extends a run of success that shows no sign of stopping.

Noval set out to take control from the start. Once both times had been recorded, the clock put him ahead by the narrowest of margins: three hundredths. That tiny gap earned him the European champion’s jersey. His victory came after Neira had won the women’s event.

Just two weeks after becoming junior world champion, Noval added the European time-trial title to his record. He had recently won the junior world titles in both the time trial and the road race. His collection now includes three major crowns: the world time-trial title, the world road title and European gold against the clock.

At 18, the latest victory underlines the scale of his season and places Benjamín Noval among the riders expected to shape the near future of Spanish cycling.
