Étoile du Sahel has announced that the “Virage” sections in its indoor venues are closing. The decision was among measures made public on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, by the board of Étoile Sportive du Sahel, following incidents at the Hammam Sousse venue after the match against Dalia Sportive de Grombalia on Saturday, 3 October 2026.
The board ordered the immediate, complete closure of the “Virage” sections in the indoor venues, without setting a reopening date. It has also ended sales of paper tickets: entry to the venues’ sections will now be exclusively through electronic tickets.
The club warned that any further incidents would lead to the closure of all “Virage” sections at the Sousse Olympic Stadium and in the indoor venues. Matches would then be played without Virage supporters, also for an indefinite period.
In explaining the decision, the board condemned what it described as “internal violence between members of the team”. It cited flares being lit, flares thrown between supporters and tensions after the final whistle. It also urged Étoile du Sahel supporters and supporters’ groups to act responsibly and confront such incidents, stressing that the club’s interests and supporters’ safety must come first.
