“Everything has collapsed”: Getafe president Ángel Torres says there is no agreement for Carvajal. “There is nothing. Everything has collapsed,” he said on the programme “El Chiringuito”. He added that an agreement that had never been reached could not be broken, while also saying: “We will try.”
Torres also stressed that every party must give its approval — La Liga, the player and the club — and that nothing would happen that day.
His comments contrast with reports from the previous day of an agreement with Getafe that needed only La Liga’s approval. Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, reports that Carvajal will not return to La Liga for the time being.
The reasons for the situation remain unknown. The indications nevertheless point towards a potential issue with financial fair play rules, which would leave Getafe without the salary cap required to sign Carvajal. This has not been established as a confirmed explanation.
