Cardoso has signed a long-term contract with Mamelodi Sundowns. The club’s coach, Miguel Cardoso, announced the new agreement, which is set to keep him with the team for several seasons to come.
Explaining his path, the Portuguese coach described a turning point shaped by his spells at Espérance and then Sundowns. “It was a radical change when the opportunity came for me to coach Espérance, and then to come to Sundowns and adapt the demands to the resources I have, because that is the most important problem,” he said.
Cardoso also credited the conditions he now has at his disposal for his recent success. “When I talk to young coaches, they ask me what is happening, because I am winning and taking titles now. I tell them it is because I now have the right conditions to achieve that.”
Happy to extend his stay, he stressed how much respect mattered to his choice: “Now I have a long-term contract, and I am very happy. I feel respected, and that is the most important thing for a coach. The feeling of being appreciated by the club played an important role in this decision.” He summed up his position by saying: “As long as you want me and respect me, and show me affection, I will be with you.”
