Mourinho drops Raúl Asencio and Andriy Lunin from his Real Madrid plans

Mourinho has already left two players out of the Real Madrid squad: Raúl Asencio and Andriy Lunin, according to reports attributed to The Athletic. The two are reportedly not part of the coach’s plans for this season and are consequently being moved towards the exit, the same reports say.

The transfer window is closed, but decisions continue behind the scenes at Real Madrid. Since José Mourinho’s arrival, the Portuguese coach has had considerable freedom to shape recruitment, a degree of influence already apparent this summer. The reported omissions are said to form part of those squad decisions.

Eduardo Camavinga’s case offers another perspective on the club’s choices: this summer, Real Madrid counted him among the players it considered as a potential source of revenue. The course of the season has, however, changed the player’s place in Mourinho’s plans. The squad is expected to remain in its current configuration until at least January, with the coach’s preferences now taking shape.
