Al-Fateh announced on Thursday that Jamal Sellami would take charge of the team for the coming period. The Moroccan replaces Khaled Al-Attawi, whose departure the club also confirmed. The announcement followed approval from the Saudi Roshn League’s financial control.
The new coach will have little time to settle in: Al-Fateh host Al-Ahli on Friday at Maydan Tamweel Al Oula stadium in Al-Ahsa, in the league’s eighth round. It will be Sellami’s first match in charge.
The timing makes the opening challenge particularly significant. This season, Al-Fateh sit 15th in the Saudi Roshn League with 3 points, after 3 draws and 4 defeats, and have yet to win. The club has therefore changed coaches while still seeking its first league victory.
Sellami brings substantial coaching experience. During his career, he led Jordan’s national team to direct qualification for the 2026 World Cup finals, to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. It was a first for Jordan.
