Julián Alvarez tells Atlético he will change agents

Atlético knows that Julián Alvarez is parting ways with his agent, Fernando Hidalgo. The forward informed the club of his decision after returning to Spain on Thursday, following his commitments with the Albiceleste. The club welcomes the choice. Alvarez must now appoint another representative.

The decision was reported by El Club de Uría. Hidalgo had represented the player for almost his entire career, but will not continue to do so.

The split comes amid disagreements over the forward’s future. Atlético officials have said on several occasions, both publicly and privately, that Alvarez had received poor advice in recent months. They specifically blamed Hidalgo and Barcelona, accusing them of fuelling speculation about the player’s future.

During the World Cup, after an Argentina victory in which Messi was the central figure, Alvarez said in a mixed zone that he wanted to leave Atlético to “fulfil a dream”. The separation from his agent marks a new step, with the choice of his next representative still to come.
