Dembélé and Nuno Mendes will miss the home match against Le Mans on Saturday at 20:45 at the Parc des Princes, in the sixth round of Ligue 1. PSG announced that both players would be absent and said they were « benefiting from a period of rest ».
The decision was made in agreement with Luis Enrique. The club said the players would return to training on different days: « They will resume training respectively on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October. »
The rest comes after an international window in which Ousmane Dembélé and Nuno Mendes were heavily involved. The Portuguese defender, in particular, started all four matches played by Portugal during that period.
The workload management follows an approach Luis Enrique had already used: early in the season, the coach had given Dembélé some time to rest. Both absences are confirmed for the meeting with Le Mans, with the players due back in training over the weekend.
