Torres has claimed his first awards with Paris Saint-Germain after a September featuring several goals and an individual honour. The forward scored the winner against Brest, then found the net against Marseille, before being officially named player of the month on Friday, following an announcement by the French professional players’ union.
The month began with a 2-1 defeat against Monaco, in which Torres played 27 minutes. He then scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Brest, before scoring again in a 2-1 win against Marseille. Across the month, his Ligue 1 tally stood at 2 goals in 3 matches, including one in Le Classique.
Torres also made his mark in the Champions League, scoring a hat-trick in a 6-1 victory against Slovan Bratislava. The award comes as Paris Saint-Germain have made a difficult start to the Ligue 1 season. After 5 matchdays, the club sat sixth on 8 points, 5 behind league leaders Monaco.
