Adrián Niño scored in the dying moments to earn a point for Málaga: his goal in the 93rd minute brought the smile back to La Rosaleda. It was a happy ending for the young forward, in a match that had until then seemed to be following a familiar script.

After three weeks away and a period of physical and mental rest, Málaga could hope to return with clearer ideas and a refreshed approach. But the home side initially looked much as before. It started strongly and created its first chance, also its clearest of the match. Fortuño, one of the new faces in Manolo González’s starting eleven, denied the effort.

The breakthrough came through an individual move from Adrián Niño: a carry forward, two changes of direction and then a fierce shot into the near post, sending La Rosaleda into celebration. The young striker turned what looked set to be another familiar ending into a valuable point for Málaga.

The goal also served as a consolation for the club, which found a way through with a cross turned in close to Fortuño’s near post. The point does not erase Málaga’s difficulties: the team still appears to be struggling, but Niño’s decisive finish kept it from leaving empty-handed.
