Hansi Flick is preparing a heavily changed Barcelona line-up for the game against Getafe, scheduled for Saturday at the Spotify Camp Nou. The Barcelona coach is expected to bring Joan García back in goal and hand Gabriel Jesus his first start as the central striker.
Joan García returns after suffering a right-knee injury on September 16 last year against Racing. Gabriel Jesus would take Raphinha’s place; Raphinha has not fully recovered from the muscle oedema he sustained a week earlier while with the Brazil national team. Those decisions could produce an unfamiliar Barcelona line-up.
The return to competition after an international break lasting close to three weeks, followed by a demanding run of difficult matches, is expected to prompt rotation. Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are among the upcoming fixtures cited, while several players who have not featured regularly could get an opportunity.
In defence, Eric García is expected to fill the right-back role after overcoming muscle fatigue. Pau Cubarsí and Gerard Martín could partner at centre-back. Lamine Yamal, meanwhile, appears difficult to leave out given his current level and continued run of goals and assists. The main question mark is on the left wing, where Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi are identified as the two candidates.
