Yan Diomande scored in Real Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Villarreal on Saturday night, in the eighth round of La Liga. The win came in a match played with a side reduced to 10 players and gave the Ivorian his first mark in a Real Madrid shirt.
The goal puts Diomande among the foreign players to have scored for Real Madrid in the Spanish league before their 20th birthday. He is the 11th player in the club’s history to achieve the feat.
The group includes Gonzalo Higuaín, Raphaël Varane and Achraf Hakimi, as well as Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Eduardo Camavinga, Álvaro Rodríguez, Arda Güler, Endrick and Franco Mastantuono. The comparison with Hakimi and Vinicius underlines the significance of Diomande’s achievement, joining a select group of young foreign scorers for Real in the league.
Diomande joined Real Madrid last summer from German club Leipzig for about 140 million euros. MisterChip also said on X that the player would turn 20 next November.
