Elche and Celta aim to build on their return to winning ways

Elche and Celta head into Sunday’s meeting with the same aim: to follow up their first wins, secured just before the international break. Kick-off at the Martínez Valero is scheduled for 14:00.

Still in the relegation zone, Elche take confidence from their victory over Espanyol and will seek their first home win. Celta, meanwhile, remain unbeaten away from home. They also eased early-season doubts with a big victory over Racing.

During the break, Elche held a training camp and played two friendlies. The aim was to speed up the integration of their latest signings. Martín Anselmi will be without Fede Redondo, suspended after being sent off against Espanyol. Yago de Santiago is also unavailable as he completes the final stage of his recovery from a knee injury.

Few changes are expected in attack, given the recent performances of Lemar, Germán Valera and Fer Niño. The latter is Elche’s leading scorer with five goals.

The match will also be a special return for Aleix Febas. He will be back at the Martínez Valero, where he captained Eder Sarabia’s Elche before joining Celta at Balaídos this summer.
