After the dramatic draw with Inter that had reignited the battle for first place, Roma shared the points again, this time away from home, in the sixth round of the Italian championship. The match ended goalless, leaving the Roman side short of a chance to close the gap at the top.

The result takes Roma to 14 points in second place, two behind Inter, now alone at the summit. The team remains at risk of slipping down the standings. Lazio, on 13 points, could overtake Roma if it beats Monza. That outcome is expected given the gap between the two teams, but it has not yet been secured.

Lazio is not the only threat: Cagliari sits fourth on 12 points and hosts Juventus. A win would also take Cagliari above Roma. The goalless draw therefore leaves the chase behind Inter open, with several results still capable of changing Roma’s position.
