Lazio beat Monza 3-1 on Sunday in the sixth round of the Italian league. The victory keeps them top of the table, level with Inter.
Monza tried to fight back, but Davide Frattesi’s header went wide. Gustavo Varela also found the net, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
The match turned in the 35th minute, when Lorenzo Lucchesi was shown a straight red card for his challenge on Noslin, who was running through alone towards goal. Reduced to ten men, Monza continued to search for an equaliser.
Before this match, Monza had earned their first win of the season by beating Sassuolo 2-1, ahead of the international break. They could not carry that momentum into the game against Lazio and left beaten, while the Roman side held on to its place at the top of the table.
