Almería beat Leganés 3-0 in Liga to claim a sixth consecutive league victory. The run is fuelling the club’s hopes of returning to the top division. The sides went into the break level, with neither having scored.
After half-time, Almería turned the match around with three goals in nine minutes, leaving Leganés with no time to respond. Almería did not settle for its first two goals: the team struck again five minutes later, and a third followed before Leganés had time to recover from the earlier blows. With a commanding lead, Almería saw out the game without allowing its opponent to close the gap.
The match was played before 13,987 spectators at Almería Stadium. The win extends Almería’s strong run and bolsters its ambition to return to the top flight. For Leganés, conceding three times in such a short spell compounded a difficult away run: the club had not won on the road since 22 August, when it beat Real Oviedo.
