Gerard Martín shares personal video after reaching 100 Barça appearances

Gerard Martín marked his 100th appearance for FC Barcelona’s first team by sharing a personal video on social media about his journey. The defender looks back on his childhood dream of wearing the Barça shirt and his progress to becoming an important player for Hansi Flick.

The video begins with an emotional image: Gerard Martín steps onto the pitch at Estadi Johan Cruyff holding a photograph of himself as a child in an FC Barcelona shirt. “When I was little, I was a Barça fan and dreamed of becoming a footballer. I managed to play for the team I had always dreamed of and admired,” he says.

The defender reached the milestone against Getafe at Spotify Camp Nou, in a 3-0 Barça victory. After the match, his teammates marked the occasion with a group photograph at the stadium. “I can look back at those 100 matches and feel proud,” Gerard Martín says.

The video also shows him walking through the Spotify Camp Nou players’ tunnel as he reflects on everything he has experienced since his first-team debut. Across those hundred appearances, he has gone from being an alternative at left-back to establishing himself at centre-back as well, where he has become more prominent under Flick.

On 2 March 2025, Gerard Martín scored his first goal against Real Sociedad in a 4-0 win at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. In the closing part of his video, he describes the milestone as motivation to keep improving: “Now that I’ve reached 100, I’m setting myself more targets and want to reach 200 more, and as many as I can.”
