Sporting claimed a last-gasp victory over Cádiz after a closely contested match. Pablo García scored late on to secure the win at the Tacita de Plata, where the Asturians had not triumphed since 2008. It was their third away victory in four trips and provisionally moved them into the play-off places. The side in yellow, meanwhile, could not build on its first win and will remain in the relegation zone for another week.
Cádiz had the clearest chances before the break. Celades made one change to his starting line-up, bringing in Moueffek for Doué. Sporting began well without creating much danger, although David Gil had to deal with a forward run by Gaspar Campos. Before half-time, Moueffek could not connect with a Vladys cross despite being in a promising position. At the other end, Gelabert met a Gularte delivery inside the six-yard area, but David Gil produced an outstanding save.
Cádiz tried to take control after the interval but struggled to create chances or make its transitions count. Sporting grew into the game as its opponents became less comfortable and appeared to lose some freshness. In the closing stages, Pablo García capitalised on a defensive lapse to score from inside the area. His shot took a slight deflection off Manu Fernández and proved decisive. Cádiz could not find a response, leaving the Sporting supporters who had travelled to the south of the peninsula to celebrate.
