The delegation of Egypt’s coastal rowing team has set off for China to compete in the 2026 World Coastal Rowing Championships finals. The events are scheduled to take place in Qingdao from October 18 to 21, with the team due to hold a training camp there before the competition.

Sherif El Qamati, president of the Egyptian Rowing Federation and treasurer of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, said the participation forms part of the Federation’s plan to develop its rowers and strengthen Egyptian rowing’s presence in international competitions. He also described the camp as a preparation stage, giving the team an opportunity to adjust to the championships’ atmosphere and sharpen its readiness before racing begins.

The delegation departed from Cairo International Airport. Several members are expected to join it in China at a later date. The staff includes delegation head and national teams supervisor Seif Negm, coaches Mohamed Gomaa and Mohamed Abdel Karim, physical trainer Mohamed El Sayed, and physical preparation coach Mohamed Fakhry.

El Qamati said the Federation is focused on providing national teams with technical and physical support to help them deliver creditable performances and achieve positive results. He described the selected rowers as promising and stressed the importance of commitment and concentration in the face of what is expected to be strong competition. The Federation is also working to broaden participation and identify emerging talent, while preparing athletes for continental and international events. El Qamati expressed confidence that the team can deliver a strong performance in Qingdao.
